Miracle Stain Remover!!

I have recently been turned on to a new stain remover- Soilove. One of my customers had a red-wine stain did not come out of her shirt after washing and drying it. But she brought a bottle of "Soilove" which her mother had given her. Naturally, I was skeptical because I have never seen ANYTHING that could get out a set-in wine stain.

To my amazement, not only did the stain completely come out of her tan shirt, it did so with out harming the fabric or what was printed on it. I was (and still am) absolutley astonished! This is bar-none the best stain remover I have ever seen. It is now available for our customers to purchase and you better believe we will be using it on all the stains we come across in our wash and fold service!

Apparently its not as much of a "secret miracle" as I thought, here is an article describing even more uses for it:

Thanks to Mary Hunt of Debt Proof Living for these great unofficial uses of Soilove.

"Soilove (soil-love) is a liquid laundry-pre-treatment that is cheap and very effective. It is also very difficult to find. Let me assure you that Frank, the owner of America’s Finest Products, manufacturer of Soilove, tells us that the only approved use for Soilove is to apply it to washable fabrics to remove stains. That’s all. He does not endorse, acknowledge, promote or in any other way suggest that Soilove should be used for any other purpose. Neither do I. Now that we got that out of the way, let me tell you all the ways I use Soilove.

Jewelry. Soak fine jewelry in Soilove and then brush with an old toothbrush. Caution: Never put pearls, opals or other soft stones in any kind of cleaner.

Bathtub. Cleans fiberglass and porcelain tubs beautifully.

Sticky label remover. How annoying is it to buy something beautiful only to have the label cemented right in the most conspicuous spot? Just spray or pour on Soilove and let it sit for a few minutes.

Hubcaps, chrome and whitewalls. Spray it on, scrub gently with cloth or soft brush, rinse.

Patio furniture. Soilove will just melt away all that grime. Spray, let sit for a few minutes, scrub if necessary and rinse.

Carpet Shampooer - I use Soilove in my carpet shampooer and it works great. I pour about 1/4 cup in with the shampoo. I strongly recommend that you test your carpet in a small inconspicuous spot BEFORE using it though. It can take the color out some carpet. Always test for color fastness.

Always test Soilove in an inconspicuous spot before trying something new."

When you come up with another "unofficial" use, let us know!

Basic Stain Removal

Take it from a laundry geek , who washes over 800 lbs. of laundry a week at The Laundry Lounge...

The absolute best stain remover I have found for all fabric types is Liquid Tide. Preferably "Liquid Tide with Stain Scrubbers" for pure stain removal. This works when everything else fails. For tough stains, sometimes you have to wash twice, spotting the stain both times and always washing in the hottest water that's safe for the fabric.

Here's how I use it to get out grease, blood, grass, wine, and everything else I come across:

You can just pour a little liquid tide directly on the stain and rub it in, but for more serious stains, use a tooth brush (not the one you use to brush your teeth, get a new one or you will be brushing your mouth with Tide for a very long time!) and brush the tide, gently yet vigorously, into the stain, so that it has saturated the fabric and stain completely.

If possible wash in HOT water, if not wash in warm. The only items that really cannot be washed in hot water are wool, silk and linen. Always wash wool in cold and NEVER dry it!

Use additional Tide, as you would with a normal load.

Repeat if necessary. DO NOT dry in between washings if the stain has not been removed. Drying will "set" a stain.

Be sure to also wash some additional items with the soiled article, such as towels or sweatshirts for added friction and cleaning.

I have found that after two washings in a row, if the stain is still there, it is probably never coming out! Sorry to break the bad news to you.  However, we do have some more advanced methods you can try.  We'll be posting them soon!  So stay tuned.

Additionally, I always use a scoop of Oxyclean in every wash, as an added stain remover. It really helps!

Good luck on all your stain removing! Remember the sooner you can treat the stain in the above manner, the better your chances will be of getting it out!

Stay tuned for more posts on specific stain removal- like wax and gum- and more!
